University Instructors’ Attitude Towards Writing Academic Articles in English for Publication: Voices From Indonesia

Grasping varying purposes of English in scientific publications has become a critical point for many scholars (Cargill & Burgess, 2017). The present study examines the attitudes Indonesian university teachers towards writing scholarly works publication. It also explored whether teachers' perceptions varied based on gender and specific areas expertise (English non-English). Applying convenience sampling technique, this research included 50 lecturers from public private institutions North Sumatra, Indonesia, separated into EFL non-EFL instructors. Additionally, participants were split male female subgroups. A survey method was utilized to collect data, SPSS version 23.0 adopted analyze data. findings demonstrated that instructors had favorable outlook publishing English. Although there no statistically substantial distinctions responses between or non-English lecturers, their area education influenced views necessity authoring academic papers Given attitude strongly influences not person will change behaviour, degree which positive about may have bearing how effectively they write. Therefore, academics' constructive stances composing journal articles must be bolstered. Such ideals can accomplished through hands-on activities such as actual practices participation seminars workshops.
